Starting this Sunday, we will have a special blessing for anniversaries and birthdays on the first Sunday of every month. If you have a December birthday or anniversary, please stand up when called so we can celebrate with you!
THIS SUNDAY CHURCH CLEAN-UP DAY
We need a few good men! Well, we’d love more than a few and some women and high schoolers too. This Sunday 11:15 to 12:30 we will be cleaning out the utility & boiler rooms in the church basement. We need folks who can help us decide what to keep & what to toss (think tools, cleaning supplies, odd parts, etc), some to help us organize what we keep, and one or two to create a log of what & how many we have kept. THIS SUNDAY CUB SCOUT PACK 1 MEETING
The St. James Cub Scout Pack 1 meets on the first Sunday of every month, 5-6 pm. This is open to all boys 1st - 5th grade. Interested or know someone who might be? THIS SUNDAY FORUM ON THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER
We use the Book of Common Prayer every week. But have you ever wondered about its history? How was it written and by whom? Even as we speak, it is being added to and revised. What will change in our generation? This promises to be a fascinating forum! Come hear Father Kevin Moroney speak on December 3rd at 11:15 in the Isom Room. Father Moroney is a Professor of Liturgics at General Seminary.

Ice skating at Rockefeller Center, pizza and enjoying the sites! We will leave after church school at 12:00 pm. $30.00 per person.
THIS SUNDAY SENIOR YOUTH RECTORY DINNER
The Senior Youth Group meets on the first Sunday of every to make and eat dinner at the rector. The next gathering is this weekend, December 3, 6-7:30 pm. Spread the word and feel free to invite friends!
SATURDAY DECEMBER 9 BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Join us for a delicious Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, December 9, 9 - 11 am. We will have a visit from Santa, a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, bagels, and more, plus arts and crafts tables. This is an annual fundraiser for the Nursery School. Tickets: $10/person, $40/family of 4 or more. Seating is limited. Come out for this traditional contemplative Anglican liturgy with hymns, evening canticles, and responses for choir and organ. Organ prelude at 3:30 pm. Join us and spread the word about this beautiful service!

This year, we will be holding our celebration at the Scarsdale Golf Club on February 10. You should be receiving a letter in the mail with all of the details. Electronic forms will be available in your weekly emails starting next Thursday.
Interested in Sharing Meals and Conversation with Local Jews and Muslims? Interfaith understanding and friendship is so vital in our country and our world today. Dr. David Arnow, founder of Exodus Conversations, is seeking to gather a local group of Jews, Muslims and Christians to share meals and conversation about our faith traditions. He reached out recently to Mo. Storm to gauge interest at St. James, and several parishioners have already joined in. HELP MAKE ST. JAMES THE LESS FESTIVE WITH CHRISTMAS AND FLOWER DONATIONS
The Altar Guild would be grateful for donations toward wreaths, garlands, holly and poinsettias to decorate our beautiful church for Christmas. Our special Christmas music is also possible thanks to parishioner contributions. You can make the donation in the name of a deceased loved one and we will publish a list of the memorials in the Christmas bulletins. Donation envelopes will be mailed the week of Dec. 4, and will be at the entrances of the church beginning on Dec. 3.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CHILDREN'S VILLAGE BAKING
Once again, we will be bringing homemade cookies to the boys at Children's Village and are looking for bakers! The staff at Children's Village said the boys were so happy to receive these special treats last Christmas. Please sign up here. Cookies should be delivered to the library on the second floor for mixed cookie tin assembly after the service on December 17, 2016. SUNDAY DECEMBER 10 PARISH-WIDE ENDOWMENT MEETING
On Sunday December 10 after church we will be meeting in the Parish Hall to discuss the need for an additional endowment draw for 2017. This meeting is required under Article I Section 2 of our By-Laws and Article VI, Section 3. This is also your chance to ask additional questions about our finances and find out ways you can support our various endeavors at St. James as we move into 2018. Mo. Storm will lead the meeting, with the wardens.
EDWARD WILLIAMS SCHOOL TREE IN THE PARISH HALL
Please take a gift tag off the tree in the Parish Hall! It has been a long standing tradition at SJtL to buy a gift for the boys and girls in the third grade afternoon program at the Edward Williams School in Mt Vernon. The tag will have the name and gender on it. Choose your own gift ($30.00) and wrap it. Popular ideas include action figures, dolls, crafts etc. Please bring it to Susie McNiff's office by December 15th. Thank you for supporting this special program.
CHILDREN'S VILLAGE TREE IN THE PARISH HALL
Make a boy's wish come true for the holidays. Pick a star off of the tree in the Parish Hall and purchase the gift on his wish list. You can provide the gift yourself or share the cost with another parishioner. Gifts must be unwrapped (gift bags can be used) and delivered to St. James (Nursery School Office) by December 11. Our next Newcomer Class is Sunday Jan. 21, followed by a dinner at the Rectory on Thursday Jan. 25. Please mark your calendars! Mother Storm will email newcomers individually next week with more information.
Parish Retreat October 2018 Planning will begin soon for our Parish Retreat, which will take place on Columbus Day weekend 2018. Please save the date! This is a family-friendly retreat at the beautiful Incarnation Camp, and will be a wonderful time to be together with fellow parishioners. Details and chances to sign up are coming soon.
We are always looking for more volunteers to usher during the10 am services and holidays throughout the year. Becoming an usher is simple. Email Dakota to let her know you are interested, and she will schedule a time for you to shadow two of our other ushers at a 10 am Sunday service.

YOUTH CHOIR GRADES 6-12
Every Sunday After Church,11:15 am Join the new youth choir! We meet Sundays in the choir room after the 10 am service, and will begin rehearsing no later than 11:15. All levels welcome. Rehearsals take place weekly.
JOIN THE ADULT PARISH CHOIR
Singers and music lovers are invited to join the parish choir. Whatever your musical background is, joining a choir can be a great way to make music, to find an artistic outlet and to participate in a group effort with other people of similar interests.Rehearsals are held each Thursday evening (7:00 – 9:00 PM). We also meet Sunday mornings at 9:00, to warm up and prepare for the morning service. The choir normally sings two anthems for the Sunday morning service. This coming year, we have several extra events planned, including Evensong the afternoon of December 10, and a concert for choir and organSaturday evening, May 12. SCARSDALE BALLET PRESENTS THE NUTCRACKER
Celebrate the holiday season with Scarsdale Ballet Studio's production of the Nutcracker! Directed by Diana White, a former ballerina of the New York City Ballet, the production features more than 90 child and adult performers, including our own Hadley Schwall, Greg Roberts, Rachel Roberts, Eleanor Roberts and Benjamin Roberts. Shows are at 1 pm and 6 pm on December 17 at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $42.50 and can be bought online at www.artscenter.org (under rental events).
