Sunday School Lenten Project Our Sunday school kids are raising money for Episcopal Relief and Development. Depending on how much money they raise, they will choose among themselves what gift to give to a family in a developing country: a pig, a goat, a flock of hens, or a cow. Help them raise money by bringing your loose change to church and placing it in the plastic eggs, and then the offering plate each Sunday in Lent. So far they've raised $63.00. A goat costs $70, a pig $100, and a cow $500.
"Sunday and Monday: The Relationship of Faith & Work” Sundays in March, 11:15 am - noon Our adult forum featuring fellow parishioners talking about their work and faith journeys has been a huge success. We've been exploring together such questions as: how does your faith inform your work? Do you find meaning in what you do? Have you ever changed careers and why? Have you ever experienced conflict between your faith and professional lives?” Come sit and listen to each other. This Sunday we have Mystery Guests! Come and find out who they are!
The Senior Youth Lenten Play will take place on Palm Sunday March 25 Mark your calendars and plan to come see our Senior Youth in the revival of this St. James tradition! The kids will act out with movement and narration the Stations of the Cross. Dr. Matthew Lewis will play the original score, and Mother Storm will speak briefly to the play's history in our church. Don't miss it!
Nursery School 50th Anniversary Concert March 17 at 3 pm Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our Nursery School with a concert by Kurt Gallagher in the Parish Hall. Refreshments and other fun treats follow the concert. Mr. Kurt Gallagher has been making music with kids every day for 20 years. His presentations are educational, entertaining, engaging and fun! Kurt encourages kids to make as much music as possible during his performances as he invites everyone to clap, slap, shake, spin, stomp and sing along. Join us for a playful afternoon. Looking for Talented Parishioners to Perform at our Coffee House on April 21 Any musicians, dancers, stand-up comedians, etc. who would like to perform, please email Dakota in the office. This event was very successful last year, as we joined together with Hitchcock Presbyterian to raise money for Rural & Migrant Ministry, Inc. We anticipate another fun evening this year! If you would like to help decorate the hall at Hitchcock or bring a baked good, please also get in touch with Dakota.
Altar of Repose Maundy Thursday Vigil Sign up Here Our entire Holy Week Schedule is listed at the beginning of this email. On Thursday night, the first day of the "Easter Triduum," we keep vigil with Christ on the night before the crucifixion. You can sign up to sit in the chapel by the altar of repose for an hour during the night. It's a peaceful, contemplative way to mark this most important time in our church year.
Easter Music & Flowers Donations We need your help to make our church look and sound beautiful for Easter. Please contribute to the music and flowers in our church for Easter. Your offering can be in memory of or thanksgiving for someone or something in your life. You can mail your donation card and envelope to the church office by March 25th or click here. If you are donating online, remember to designate which fund (Altar Guild or Music) you would like to contribute to this season.
And Don't Forget: Parish Retreat October 5-7 Columbus Day Weekend Over seventy parishioners have already signed up to attend our parish retreat this fall! Be part of the fun. Sign up to indicate your interest on the bulletin board in the cloister hallway. The retreat will take place at the beautiful Incarnation Camp in Ivoryton, CT.
Ask a Warden Have a question about the church? Want to help but don't know what's needed? Ask a warden! You can contact Tracy McCarthy or Pam Heldman any time and they'd be happy to answer your questions.
