From Mother Storm Hello Parishioners - Last Sunday was quite busy at St. James, with our celebration of Epiphany and the Baptism of our Lord, the senior high rectory dinner, and a great parent discussion after church on "parenting and politics." Check out our three kings, all ready to process! This Sunday will be a little bit quieter. We will remember the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr in our Prayers of the People, and after church we'll enjoy fellowship at coffee hour. If you're traveling, have fun and be safe. Hope to see the rest of you Sunday! -Astrid
After Church This Sunday Sunday school all ages, Samaritan's Meeting coffee hour, Youth Choir (6th-12th grade)
Samaritans' Meeting after Church The Samaritans is a group of parishioners who take care of fellow parishioners in need by making home visits, writing cards, checking in by phone, and providing material resources as needed. If you're interested in learning more, contact Mother Storm. Our next meeting will be after church this Sunday in the Isom Room.

Survey for Lenten Book Groups is Ready Lent begins mid-February, and what better way to observe Lent than by reading and discussing a good book with fellow parishioners? Please take 2 minutes to fill out this survey so we know if there is enough interest to organize these groups. We hope so!
Vestry Nominations Thank you for the many wonderful suggestions for vestry nominees! We had a lengthy list, and a very good one that we plan to hold onto for future years' nominations. After much deliberation, the nomination committee would like to put forward the following three candidates, about whom you can read at this link. We will vote them in at the Annual Meeting after church on January 28.
Finance Committee Meeting January 15 The next Finance Committee meeting is on Monday, January 15, 7:30 pm. The Finance Committee meets monthly to review our finance reports, discuss ways of better stewards of our resources, and to ensure that we're managing everything correctly. If you're interested in joining or learning more, please contact the office.
Rector's Book Group January 21 In just over a week we will gather after church to discuss How to Think: A Survival Guide for a World at Odds, by Alan Jacobs. Whether you've had a chance to read the book or not, please join us for a good conversation about how we can better work, talk, and live together in today's divisive culture.
