Second Sunday of Advent Pledge Update and Thank You! Pledge ONLINE HERE! A big Thank You to everyone who turned in pledge cards so far. As of today, December 7, we are at $338,500, with 92 families pledging so far. We're awaiting about 25 more pledges, so if you are one of those, we hope to hear from you soon! Pledge cards are located at the entrances to the church.and remember you can always pledge online here. It's safe, secure, and confidential.
Help Make St. James the Less Festive with Christmas Flower and Music Donations! Donate ONLINE! The Altar Guild would be grateful for donations toward wreaths, garlands, holly and poinsettias to decorate our beautiful church for Christmas. Our special Christmas music is also possible thanks to parishioner contributions. You can make the donation in the name of a deceased loved one and we will publish a list of the memorials in the Christmas bulletins. Donation envelopes have been mailed to you and are at the entrances to the church.
TOMORROW David Smith's funeral service will begin tomorrow (Friday) at 12:30 pm, followed at 2 pm by a reception in the Parish Hall. Please keep his family in your prayers, and try to make it tomorrow, if you can.
THIS SATURDAY Breakfast with Santa Join us for a delicious Breakfast with Santa, 9 - 11 am. We will have a visit from Santa, a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, bagels, and more, plus arts and crafts tables. This is an annual fundraiser for the Nursery School. Tickets: $10/person, $40/family of 4 or more. Seating is limited. Please call: 914-723-1018 to register or stop by the Nursery School office for tickets. Be sure to bring your camera!
AFTER CHURCH OVERVIEW this Sunday Sunday School for children pre-K through 8th grade, Youth Choir grades 6-12, Parish Endowment Meeting, Coffee Hour
THIS SUNDAY Parish-Wide Endowment Meeting After church, we will be meeting in the Parish Hall to discuss the need for an additional endowment draw for 2017. This meeting is required under Article I Section 2 of our By-Laws and Article VI, Section 3. This is also your chance to ask additional questions about our finances and find out ways you can support our various endeavors at St. James as we move into 2018. Mo. Storm will lead the meeting, with the wardens.
THIS SUNDAY Breakfast Run Winter Coats, Hats and Gloves Needed! We will meet at 6:30 am in the Parish Hall to prepare. You may sign up to donate food or clothing or sign up to be a driver here. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Cheryl Smith.
THIS SUNDAY Advent Choral Evensong 4:00 pm Come out for this traditional contemplative Anglican liturgy with hymns, evening canticles, and responses for choir and organ. Organ prelude at 3:30 pm. Join us and spread the word about this beautiful service!
Interested in Singing for Choral Evensong? If you are not able to make weekly choir rehearsals, but would like to sing on occasion, consider joining in for our Choral Evensong. Wednesdays in December Cecil B. DeMille’s Ten Commandments! The Wednesday Bible Study group will be watching and discussing installments of The Ten Commandments throughout the month of December, 10 - 11 am. Come out for some fun movie viewing! All are welcome.
Our 20th Annual Mardi Gras Party! This year, we will be holding our celebration at the Scarsdale Golf Club on February 10. You should have received a letter in the mail with all of the details. Electronic forms are available below.
Interested in Sharing Meals and Conversation with Local Jews and Muslims? Interfaith understanding and friendship is so vital in our country and our world today. Dr. David Arnow, founder of Exodus Conversations, is seeking to gather a local group of Jews, Muslims and Christians to share meals and conversation about our faith traditions. He reached out recently to Mo. Storm to gauge interest at St. James, and several parishioners have already joined in. Volunteers Needed for Children's Village Baking Once again, we will be bringing homemade cookies to the boys at Children's Village and are looking for bakers! The staff at Children's Village said the boys were so happy to receive these special treats last Christmas. Please sign up here. Edward Williams School Tree in the Parish Hall Please take a gift tag off the tree in the Parish Hall! It has been a long standing tradition at SJtL to buy a gift for the boys and girls in the third grade afternoon program at the Edward Williams School in Mt Vernon. The tag will have the name and gender on it. Choose your own gift ($30.00) and wrap it. Popular ideas include action figures, dolls, crafts etc. Please bring it to Susie McNiff's office by December 15th. Thank you for supporting this special program.
Children's Village Tree in the Parish Hall Make a boy's wish come true for the holidays. Pick a star off of the tree in the Parish Hall and purchase the gift on his wish list. You can provide the gift yourself or share the cost with another parishioner. Gifts must be unwrapped (gift bags can be used) and delivered to St. James (Nursery School Office) by December 11.
