Children & Youth Music

The EPISCOPAL CHURCH of ST. JAMES the LESS

The Children's Choir

The Children's Choir is for children grades 1-5. They meet every Thursday afternoon from 3:30-4:15 PM  (right after school) in the Choir Room.

They sing at every Youth Sunday throughout the year as well as certain feast days and holidays.  Children in the choir learn music skills such as ear training, sight reading and ensemble singing. They also take part in the Christmas Pageant on Sunday, December 17 at 10:00 AM.  It continues to grow but there is always room for more!

Please contact Dr. Matthew Lewis for more information on joining the Children's Choir. music@stjamesscarsdale.org.

The Youth Choir

The Youth Choir is for older students, in grades 6-12. Rehearsals are Thursday afternoons, 4:30 - 5:15 pm.

They sing more advanced repertoire as they develop their music skills and they sing Sunday mornings throughout the year, including Christmas Eve, Easter and other feast days. New members are always welcome!

Music and Arts for Children and Youth

,We’re continuing and reviving our St. James tradition of children’s drama and music with a new offering. Each Sunday after church, kids K-12th grades are invited to stay in the church for a 25-minute music and drama session. In the fall, we will prepare for our Christmas pageant, and in spring, for our Spring Children’s Musical. We will sing, learn some music skills (including solfege and ear training), work on delivering lines clearly, and create sets and backdrops for drama presentations. A combination of art forms! Led by Dr. Lewis, Cheryl Smith, and Deacon Susie.
