Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday & Easter Day + Services for All Ages

Church of St. James the Less
Holy Week & Easter Schedule + Join Us for Services Starting Tonight

Holy Week & Easter at St. James the Less

Join us for Holy Week services, starting today

Hello Parishioners and Friends of St. James. Today begins the most sacred time of the church year, starting with tonight's Maundy Thursday service at 7 pm. I hope you can join us as we walk through the last days of Christ's life. It's a moving series of services, traditional and time-honored. All services last about an hour and, as always, all ages are welcome at all our liturgies. Peace to all, and a blessed Holy Week. -Mo. Storm & Mo. Eliza

Maundy Thursday Service

Maundy Thursday Service

With Bishop Allen Shin + Thursday March 28 at 7 pm

Join us starting at 7 pm as we remember the institution of the first Eucharist, followed by the stripping of the altar as we prepare for Good Friday. This service is a dramatic liturgical re-enactment of the final night of Jesus' life, not to be missed. Bishop Allen Shin will be with us to preach and celebrate.

Maundy Thursday Vigil

Maundy Thursday Vigil

An Overnight Watch with Christ + Thursday March 28, 8 pm - 8 am

Our overnight vigil is in memory of Jesus' request that the disciples stay up and watch with him through his agonizing final night in the Garden of Gethsemane. The church is open all night, and you may sign up to keep watch for an hour (or more), or just come by sometime in the night.

Led by the clergy, Mo. Storm and Mo. Eliza. All welcome. Invite friends!

Good Friday Liturgy

Good Friday Liturgy

A Service to Mark the Death of our Lord + Friday, March 29 at 12noon

The Good Friday liturgy is from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer and includes the Passion according to St. John sung by the choir. This year, Mo. Storm will also be preaching about some of the changes made this year to the liturgy--almost imperceptible, but of tremendous importance for our interfaith life. We'll also take a "Good Friday Offering," the offering of the Episcopal Church since 1922 to the Diocese of Jerusalem. Read more about that at the link below.

Help Needed

St. James Refugee Ministry

We're currently looking for long-term housing for our Ukrainian refugee, who is now preparing (as planned) to transition out of our church apartment. We need a volunteer to work with her to scour websites (Craigslist, Zillow, etc.) and find possible apartments in the area within her budget. Support is also provided from Hearts and Homes for Refugees, our partner organization. This is meaningful work, and just takes a little time out of your schedule to make a big difference.

Also, if anyone in the parish knows of a home apartment or possible living arrangement (alone or with a roommate), please contact Carol in the office: office@stjamesscarsdale.org. Any and all leads are welcome!

Are You a Pledging Member of St. James?

Are You a Pledging Member of St. James?

We are so thankful for each every pledge made to St. James. Ongoing financial contributions from parishioners are how Episcopal churches operate. If you take advantage of anything in the church--worship services, classes for kids and adults, outreach programs, fellowship, anything at all--please make a pledge to help us sustain these programs. The annual average pledge at St. James is approx $3500.00. By the numbers, it costs $6000.00 per family to do everything we do. Click the picture above to make a pledge. It's easy and secure. You'll receive a response from the office and the rector. Thank you!
