Children Sing In Church THIS Sunday March 2

Children's Sunday Sings is for kids ages 2nd grade and up. Children are invited to participate in music during worship by gathering one Sunday a month after church, practice at home with a video tutorial provided, and singing in church the following Sunday. A nice and easy way to get our kids making music and sharing their talents in church!

For information, contact the Victoria Shields at music@stjamesscarsdale.org. Drop-ins welcome! This is a drop-off event, but parents are welcome to stay. At the church in the Parish Hall or the Choir Room. All welcome!

Optional Healing Prayer

During the 9 & 10:30 am Services

Parishioners have the option on the first Sunday of each month (both services) to receive healing prayers for themselves or a loved one after receiving Holy Communion. Prayers are said by certified lay chaplains in a quiet space (our chapel) and kept always confidential. NEW: Lay chaplains are also available to take Communion to you or to a loved one if you're unable to make it to church. We're happy to visit anyone at all, even just to lend a listening ear or say a quiet prayer together. Our chaplains are here to support our parishioners in hard times, so please call on us! Send a confidential email to: laychaplains@stjamesscarsdale.org.

Anniversary Lecture Series: The Largest Church in Westchester, 1920s-1940s

Anniversary Lecture Series: The Largest Church in Westchester, 1920s-1940s

Sunday, March 9 at 11:30 am

The 1920s-1940s brought tremendous change to St. James the Less.  Rapidly increasing membership with the addition of the the commuter rail necessitated more space for our growing congregation.  The additions of the Great Hall, church transepts and chancel under the leadership of Dudley Stroup and Harry Price made St. James more recognizably the church it is today.  Scarsdale was "ground zero" for Episcopalianism, making us, for a time, the largest church in Westchester county.  Parishioner Russell Grant guides us through this eventful period of our history.
