This Weekend at a GlanceFor the Weekend of Sunday November 1st, All Saints' Day Honor the dead, and cherish the living. To me, that's what All Saints' is all about. Any time we talk about those who've already died, or our own mortality, we're also reminding ourselves to take our lives more seriously--and at the same time, more lightly--here and now. It's a well worn line, perhaps, but still one of the best in contemporary poetry: "Tell me, what is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" (Mary Oliver). That question looms over this weekend as we celebrate All Saints' and All Souls' Days. Join us this Sunday at both services for a celebration of those who've gone before. We'll read the necrology at both 9 & 10:30 am, and enjoy some wonderful music at 10:30. Afterward, Father Daniel will be leading a forum in the Isom Room on "Last Things," where we'll begin (among other things) to plan our funerals. It's more fun than you might think! Thinking about such things in advance helps clarify what's important, and how we'd like to be remembered. It also saves your family a lot of time and trouble after you're gone! Hope you can join us. And of course beyond all this are our other weekend activities: Morning Prayer online on Friday, the Fordham Pantry on Saturday, and Confirmation class Sunday evening. Peace to all, and look forward to seeing you Sunday + Mo. Storm |

Last Sunday's Sermon"Christian love calls us to see the whole person" In last Sunday's sermon, Deacon Wendy preached on Jesus' summary of the law, to love God and neighbor. She emphasized the importance of seeing the whole person in those whom we help, and bringing our whole selves to our service of others. From the sermon: If love means seeking the good of another person, then we must be willing to look beyond the task in front of us and see the person who is standing before us. The people who come to a food pantry are more than people who need groceries. The people we meet on the Breakfast Run are more than people who need a meal. The children who receive backpacks are more than recipients of donations. Each person has a story, a family, hopes, struggles, and most importantly, gifts. Christian love calls us to see the whole person. For more infomation visit: https://www.stjamesscarsdale.org/podcasts/sermon-podcast/2026-10-25-the-heart-of-our-faith

Children's Chapel This Sunday
Children's Chapel takes place weekly on Sundays at 10:35 am. More than a new name (and mascot! pictured above), this is a fresh way for our youngest members to worship together during the first part of our Sunday Holy Communion service. Kids will gather for a short, joyful liturgy filled with prayer, song, and stories from the Bible—then dive into hands-on formation activities that bring the day's lesson to life.
Chapel is led by our High School interns, with support from our clergy. Victoria, our music director, will be teaching our Cherubs a new song each month to be shared at the 10:30 am. service!
Children's Chapel takes place during the first half of the 10:30 am service. Everyone begins worship together, with the kids leaving after the opening Collect and returning for Communion.
