Stories from St. James

Our story as a parish is written by the many voices and lives that come together at St. James the Less. Each week, you’ll hear from a parishioner about why they pledge and what this community means to them. This week, watch John Palmer and be inspired by how rasing their family at St. James provided a strong community for their children. Their story is part of our story — and yours can be, too, when you make your pledge. Together, we build on the past and create a future filled with hope.

“We love because he first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

Judith Eckerman Hancock

Judith Eckerman Hancock

October 18, 1934-October 10, 2025

It is with sadness to share that Judith Hancock, who served as Director of Music at St James from 1993-1996, passed away recently. One of the finest concert organists of this age, she was a partner in music with her esteemed husband, Gerre Hancock where they both served at St Thomas NYC for many years together.

May Judy's soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
