New Pilgrimage Opportunity Summer 2026Inquirers' Meeting on Sunday July 6, 11:45 AM Because of the unstable situation in the Middle East and the uncertainties that brings, we've decided to postpone indefinitely our trip next summer to Turkey. However, we'd like to gather to propose an alternative pilgrimage. Join us THIS Sunday July 6 at 11:45 am to discuss our options. Top of the list is a walking pilgrimage "The Pilgrim's Way" in England to learn more about our heritage as Anglicans, as well as (the best part!) get to know each other better. Click the button below if you can't make the meeting but would like to receive email updates. For more infomation visit:

Optional Healing PrayerThis Sunday at Both Services Parishioners have the option on the first Sunday of each month (both services) to receive healing prayers for themselves or a loved one after receiving Holy Communion. Prayers are said by certified lay chaplains in a quiet space (our chapel) and kept always confidential. NEW: Lay chaplains are also available to take Communion to you or to a loved one if you're unable to make it to church. We're happy to visit anyone at all, even just to lend a listening ear or say a quiet prayer together. Our chaplains are here to support our parishioners in hard times, so please call on us! Send a confidential email to: laychaplains@stjamesscarsdale.org. |

Last Sunday's Sermon"Turning Our Faces to Love," by Mother Eliza From the sermon: Paul develops this paradox as the “fruit of the Spirit.” He lists the qualities that the fruit produces—they aren’t separate qualities that we pick and choose from but are all facets of one unified life that flows from the Spirit’s presence within us. What comes first is love - the root from which all the other traits grow. In fact, it’s the source of the rest: Joy is love rejoicing; Peace is love resting. Patience is love enduring; Kindness is love reaching out. Self-control is love, reigning in the self for the sake of others. This is a picture of a life that’s not driven by rules or fear, but by the Spirit’s quiet, transformative power. It’s not about striving harder—it’s about abiding deeper. Just as fruit grows naturally on a healthy tree, these qualities emerge when we’re rooted in Christ. For more infomation visit: http://stjamesscarsdale.org/media/2025-06-29-turning-our-faces-to-love

Next Newcomer CoffeeSunday July 13 + 9:45 AM Mother Storm has scheduled several informal newcomer coffees during the summer months. Our next one is in two weeks. New or new-ish to St. James? Grab a cup of coffee after the 9 am service (or before the 10:30 service) and drop by the Isom Room to talk to Mo. Storm about our church, its history, how to become a member and get involved. All questions welcome! Just drop in for as long as you're able. |
News From the Diocese: Updated Weekly
Much of what makes St. James the Less so great is that we're part of the Episcopal Church. In addition to all that's happening at St. James the Less, the Diocese of New York hosts events that are open to all Episcopalians throughout the diocese. In this week's newsletter, you can find out more about summer events for youth, the "One Single Act" campaign, events at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and more.
