Prayer Vigil Sunday at 1:00 PMSupporting our Neighbors in Need Dear Parishioners - I am officially away until this coming Monday, but as some of you know, I've been summoned out of vacation this past week to get involved with Yeonsoo Go's detainment and (thank God) release by ICE. Yeonsoo was a member of our youth group before heading to Purdue last year. If you didn't follow that story, you can see our social media posts about it. Following her release, we cancelled a scheduled Vigil (which would have been tonight in Chase Park), but the work goes on. The very day Yeonsoo was detained, another Episcopalian from a nearby parish was also detained and remains in custody. Her priest has planned a small gathering at St. Bart's Church in White Plains this Sunday at 1:00 pm for those who'd like to join us in prayer for her and her family. We will not be posting this on Facebook or any social media, since her community is vulnerable and widespread attention may not be in their best interest. This will be a quiet prayer vigil, but such shows of support are vital in these times, especially for those in communities that aren't as well-resourced as ours. The diocesan legal team that worked for Yeonsoo's release continues its work for Ketty. Please join us at 82 Prospect Street, White Plains, this Sunday at 1:00 pm. If you can't be there, please keep Ketty and her family in your prayers. -Mother Storm |

Last Sunday's Sermon
Last Sunday, Mo. Eliza preached on Jesus' "Parable of the Barns," cautioning us against the illusion of self-control and self-reliance. From the sermon: Let’s understand the facts: Jesus isn’t critiquing the size of the man’s barns. Instead, Jesus highlights the danger of self-centeredness and presuming on the future. So, let’s get this clear: The lesson is not about financial planning or even how much we accumulate, but about the folly of thinking we are in control. God says to this man who filled his barns, “… you are not in control – today is the end of your life. The things you have prepared, who did you store them for?” The parable is a reminder that possessions are fleeting, and true richness is found in being “rich toward God.” As Christians, our identity flows from baptism into Christ. What matters most is how God sees us, not our possessions or achievements, but our hearts - who we are in Christ Jesus.
