St. James Choristers & Cherubs

CHORISTERS, 2nd Grade & Up

The St. James Choristers is our weekly choir program for kids ages second grade and up. In rehearsals, kids learn music theory, sight reading, scales, service music and hymns, and how to sing in a choir. For information, contact the organist and music director, Victoria Shields, at music@stjamesscarsdale.org. Kids rehearse weekly (on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:15pm or Thursdays 4:00-4:45pm --pick your day!), and sing monthly in the full choir on Sunday mornings. Rehearsals begin the week of September 17th.

CHERUB CHOIR, PreK-1st Grade

The St. James Cherub Choir is for our preK-1st Graders. Children become familiar with basic sight reading, service music and hymns, and just have fun under the direction of our music director, who also has a degree in music pedagogy. We're excited to be starting this program in the fall of 2024! Rehearsals are weekly on Tuesdays from 4 - 4:25 pm and begin September 17th.

JOIN CHORISTERS!

All children are welcome to be part of the great Anglican choral tradition. For centuries, choristers in this tradition have been trained from a young age all the way through adulthood to help us lift our hearts to God through music.  In addition to learning music, choristers learn more about their faith, the church, leadership, and teamwork. Making music part of your child's life is something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
