Last Sunday's Sermon
In last Sunday's sermon, preaching on Jesus' unexpected words "I come to bring division," Mo. Storm spoke about those rare times in life when we're called to part ways for a greater good. Such decisions are never easy, often agonizing, but are some of the most important ones we face in life. From the sermon: Not every difference requires division; in fact, many don’t, and shouldn’t. I would even say there are few things we can be so certain of as to put division over loyalty. But where matters of major and needed social or personal change are involved, we may need to walk away. Maybe a question to ask yourself at your next extended family gathering is: is division motivated by a sincere desire for and commitment to social change and betterment for others, or is it just that I’m disagreeable and don’t want to be around this person and their views? Can I not act on my convictions while continuing my relationship with this person who doesn’t at all share them? Might there be more room in this relationship than I think to hold all this? Isn’t it worth finding out before deciding to cut someone out? For more infomation visit: http://stjamesscarsdale.org/media/2025-08-17-exit-voice-loyalty

An Important Security ReminderA Note from Mother Storm A friendly reminder to be suspicious of communications from me that are asking for something. Always check the email address (if it isn't "rector@stjamesscarsdale.org" don't reply). Know that I will never make vague requests for prayer, a meeting, or gift cards. Westchester clergy from wealthier communities often get phished, where made up email accounts are used to send out fake communications. Don't reply to these, and if in any doubt, contact me directly at my authorized email address or call the church office. Meanwhile, we're investigating the breach to see if there's anything further we can do to prevent this from happening. |
